Roadwork alert: 2-year US 27 resurfacing project to begin
Resurfacing on U.S. 27 in Allen County will begin at 7 a.m. Friday, the Indiana Department of Transportation said today.
The resurfacing, which will be in several phases during two years, will be between Paulding Road and Fourth Street in both directions, the transportation department said in a statement.
Asphalt resurfacing will be done from Paulding Road to Wallace Street in 2018, INDOT said, and from Wallace Street to Fourth Street in 2019.
The $7.6 million work will include signal modernization and curb upgrades at 15 intersections on both Clinton and Lafayette streets, the statement said.
The improvement upgrades will include:
Widening the intersection of Pettit Avenue and U.S. 27 to improve the turn radius for larger vehicles turning from southbound U.S. 27 to westbound Pettit Avenue; Improving safety at the intersection of Paulding Road and U.S. 27 by removing access to Avondale Drive from Paulding.
The work will be from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the weekday and on Saturdays. The first phase is scheduled to be completed Nov. 30. The project is scheduled to be finished by late 2019, INDOT said.
