Greenwich’s Annie Robinson earns All-America water polo honors
Producing standout water polo seasons earned several players from Greenwich the honor of being recognized as All-America performers.
Greenwich High School rising senior Annie Robinson was named to the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association/Speedo Girls Water Polo All-America Team as a member of the First Team.
Robinson was the Cardinals’ leading scorer as a junior this past spring, consistently powering the team offensively. One of Robinson’s many impressive games came on Greenwich’s Senior Day against Hopkins School in early May. She scored a game-high eight goals in the Cardinals’ 13-8 win over Hopkins.
During the Choate Rosemary Hall Tournament in April, Robinson scored six goals over three games to help lead the Cardinals to a record of 3-0 in the tournament.
Kevin Downey, a 2017 Greenwich High graduate, earned Second Team All-America honors. Downey was an offensive force throughout the fall season for the Cardinals. At the Anapolis Classic toward the end of the Cardinals’ 2016 season, he scored 18 goals over a five-game stretch to propel the team to a 5-0 record in the tournament.
Charles Pang was named to the NISCA/Speedo Boys Water Polo All America Team as a member Third Team selection. A goalie, Pang was the last line of defense on a Bruins team that captured their third consecutive New England championship this past fall.
He also received First Team All-New England accolades for the third straight season.
