ATV driver killed, tried to turn in front of logging truck
COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. (AP) — The driver of an all-terrain vehicle was killed after trying to make a U-turn in front of a logging truck on U.S. Highway 2 near Columbia Falls.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Josh Nana says a larger four-wheel, all-terrain vehicle was traveling on the shoulder of the road at about 2 p.m. Friday when it pulled in front of the logging truck as it tried to make a turn.
The truck driver tried to avoid hitting the ATV and the truck rolled onto its side, spilling logs all over the highway. The road was closed just north of Glacier Park International Airport for several hours. Traffic was being re-routed.
Officials did not immediately release the victim’s name or hometown.
