Courthouse Square Sidewalk Replacement Underway In Scranton
SCRANTON — The project to replace badly damaged sidewalks at Courthouse Square kicked off earlier this week and could continue into the summer.
In February, commissioners unanimously awarded Scranton-based Spano Construction an $830,000 contract to replace the sidewalks, which are marred by potentially dangerous cracks and divots. Crews began working Monday on the Spruce Street side of the square and will complete the work in phases to keep as many courthouse entrances open as possible, county engineer Gary Cavill said.
The project should take about six weeks if the weather cooperates, Cavill said. The project should be completed in time for La Festa Italiana, which takes place Labor Day weekend on the square, he said.
