Walled Lake Western QB Sam Johnson picks Boston College
Sam Johnson, a 6-4, 195-pound three-star quarterback from Walled Lake Western, committed to Boston College on Monday.
Johnson, who is ranked the No. 35 pro-style quarterback nationally by 247Sports for the 2019 class, made the announcement at his high school.
Johnson chose the Eagles over his other four finalists — Michigan, Iowa, Syracuse and Missouri.
Johnson, who played at Southfield A&T as a freshman and sophomore before transferring to Walled Lake Western ahead of last season, was named honorable mention on The Detroit News’ 2017 Division 1-2 All-State team. He completed 111-of-189 passes for 2,115 yards and 23 TD last season.
Johnson made headlines in 2015, receiving a scholarship offer from Akron as an eighth-grader, becoming what is believed to be the first football player in Michigan to be offered a college scholarship before high school.
