Grab your umbrellas — two storms expected to roll through Havasu
It’s probably going to get a little wet this weekend.
A big storm is expected to bring rain to the Lake Havasu City region — and lots of snow to higher elevations. The National Weather Service predicts Lake Havasu City will get up to 1/3 of an inch of rain through Sunday morning. Nearby areas will receive significantly more rain, with Needles expected to get a half inch, while Wikieup could get drenched with .89 inches.
The storm will bring winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 30 to 40 mph possible.
The biggest impacts from the storm will be in the eastern Sierra Nevada and Mt. Charleston near Las Vegas, with heavy snow expected at areas above 7,000 feet elevation. A second storm system will roll through the area on Sunday night and Monday morning, but meteorologists say that storm will bring decidedly less water to the area. Havasu is only predicted to get .06 inches of rain from the second storm.
