Rhode Island gas prices back up to $2 per gallon

June 8, 2020 GMT

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The average cost of a gallon of gasoline in Rhode Island has risen 2 cents in the past week, AAA Northeast said Monday.

Self-serve, regular is now selling for $2 per gallon, which is 3 cents lower than the national price of $2.03 and 76 cents lower than the average Rhode Island price one year ago.

Rhode Island gas prices are at their lowest level for early June since 2004, AAA spokesman Lloyd Albert said in a statement. Prices are expected to continue to rise as crude oil prices trend higher and demand increases, but prices are not expected to rise as high as last summer, he said.
