5 Defendants Plead Guilty in Boulder County’s ‘Operation Crystal Stiletto’ Drug Bust
Five defendants pleaded guilty in Boulder County’s “Operation Crystal Stiletto” grand jury indictment — the multi-jurisdiction bust of an alleged methamphetamine enterprise spanning Northern Colorado.
At the Boulder County Justice Center on Friday morning, two others — Donald Rheubottom and David Thurston — pleaded not guilty and are scheduled for a two-week joint trial starting May 14, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors allege the pool of people indicted is made up of dealers, distributors and manufacturers of methamphetamine and heroin.
According to one indictment, there was mention of 68 pounds of methamphetamine and one dealer moving at least 3 pounds of methamphetamine a day.
According to the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, 41-year-old Terry Kelley pleaded guilty to violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act; conspiracy to manufacture, distribute and possess a controlled substance, and possession of a weapon by previous offender. He will be sentenced on Jan. 19.
Juanita Vasquez, 31, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture/distribute. She was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Jessica Hornback, 39, pleaded guilty to Colorado Organized Crime Control Act conspiracy and four counts of possession of controlled substance with intent to manufacture/distribute. She was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Jason Trujillo, 42, pleaded guilty to distribution of a controlled substance. He previously told the Times-Call he was innocent of selling drugs . A sentencing date has not been set.
Jessica Radford, 34, pleaded guilty to Colorado Organized Crime Control Act conspiracy and distribution of a controlled substance. She will be sentenced on Feb. 2.
David Burns’ case was the first to have closed on July 31, when the 29-year-old pleaded guilty to felony distribution of a controlled substance and was sentenced to two years of probation.
Area law enforcement began arresting suspects in May across Longmont, Fort Lupton and Boulder. More arrests came in the following weeks in Lakewood and Greeley.
Those still in jail include Ricardo Cordova, Michael Montez and Lucas Trujillo.
Those who have been released on bond include Antoinette Arreguin, Arturo Cordova, Scott Draper, James Russell, Karrie Sawyer, Tera Tate, Christopher Tafoya, Sean Duncan and William Veach.
