Huskers don’t hear their name called in release of NCAA Tournament bracket
The Nebraska soccer team watched its season come to an end on Monday afternoon after being left out of the NCAA Tournament.
The bracket, which consists of 64 teams, was released on Monday. Six teams from the Big Ten made the field, including Minnesota, which automatically qualified after winning the Big Ten Tournament.
The Gophers defeated the Huskers (9-7-5, 5-3-3) in the semifinals of the tournament. Despite struggling down the stretch — winless in five of the final six games — the Huskers had a chance to make the tournament based on their RPI.
During the nonconference season, Nebraska played Washington State, Duke, North Carolina State and Baylor. All four made the field with Duke receiving the No. 4 seed and the Bears checking in at No. 2.
