Former Video Store Operator Pleads No Contest to Child Sex Abuse
EDENTON, N.C. (AP) _ A former video store operator pleaded no contest to molesting 16 children at the Little Rascals Day Care Center and drew five years’ probation. He had already spent 3 1/2 years in jail awaiting trial.
Three other defendants in the 5-year-old Little Rascals abuse case have pleaded no contest or been convicted, and three more await trial.
Willard Scott Privott, 45, pleaded no contest on Thursday to taking indecent liberties, crimes against nature and conspiracy.
Children identified Privott as ″the fat man″ who molested and photographed them. But Privott said he had never been at the day care center, and no photos were ever found.
Prosecutors said the plea bargain would spare children from having to testify.
Susan Small, a mother of two of the children, told Privott in court that ″no amount of lies and manipulation″ could hide the truth from God.
God ″knows every sordid detail and I pity you for that,″ she said.
