AP’S ASSESSMENT: True. The ride sharing apps announced they will offer free rides to polling stations on Election Day in an effort to get voters to the polls.
THE FACTS: On November 6th, riders can click a “Get to the Polls” button on the latest version of the Uber app. The ride will be free after users enter a promo code. Uber is partnering with Democracy Works and #VoteTogether.
Lyft is offering free and discounted rides to voters. TurboVote and Vote.org will have 50 percent off ride codes. Lyft will offer free rides to underserved communities, through partnerships with Voto Latino, local urban league affiliates and the National Federation of the Blind.
