17 ill with food poisoning at Southern California business

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say 17 people at a Southern California business have fallen ill from apparent food poisoning and some were taken to hospitals.

It happened Wednesday afternoon at the El Segundo office of ManTech International Corp., an information technology firm.

KABC-TV reports that employees were having a catered luncheon when some began feeling ill. They complained of vomiting, nausea, dizziness and weakness.

The El Segundo Fire Department says 17 people had symptoms consistent with food poisoning. Eight were taken to a hospital in stable condition.

A message to a ManTech spokesman seeking comment wasn’t immediately returned.
