Redding lightbulb swap this weekend

March 8, 2017 GMT

Redding residents will have the opportunity to exchange lightbulbs for more energy efficient bulbs for free at the Redding Community Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Participants can exchange up to five incandescent light bulbs for energy-efficient ENERGY STAR LED bulbs. Residents must bring identification to the swap. Additional LED bulbs and lighting products will be sold there at a discounted rate.

The program is hosted by the town and Eversource and is funded by a Bright Ideas grant.

Energy experts from Eversource will be on-hand at the light bulb swap to answer questions and provide people with information on how they can save money and energy at home.

In 2015, Redding joined Clean Energy Communities, the nationally-recognized Energize Connecticut program to help cities and towns save energy and increase the installation of renewable energy. Eversource is currently working with Redding to help it reach its energy goals and reduce municipal building energy consumption by 20 percent by 2018.

Residents looking to save energy and money should visit EnergizeCT.com or call 877-WISE-USE (947-3873).
