Thurston fans career-high 11
BOWLING GREEN - Madison’s Ryan Thurston struck out a career-high tying 11 batters and host Western Kentucky held off Ohio University 5-4 in college baseball Friday at Nick Denes Field. Thurston, a redshirt junior left-hander who graduated at Madison in 2014, was making his third start of the season for the Hilltoppers. He scattered three runs on four hits, two walks and two hit batters over 7 1/3 innings to pick up the win and even his record at 1-1 on the season with a 4.58 ERA. He faced 29 batters and threw 106 pitches with 68 going for strikes. Western Kentucky went on to lose to Ohio by identical 3-0 scores on Saturday and Sunday to stand 4-8 on the season.
