MANILA, Philippines (AP) _ Communists shot and killed six people, including a Philippine Constabulary captain and three of his men, in an attack on a recreation hall, the military said Friday.
Sgt. Alfredo Mangrobang said Capt. Sergio Alcubilla and two sergeants were killed Thursday by three men from the communist New People’s Army at a billiards hall in Balanga, Bataan province, 30 miles west of Manila.
Mangrobang said another policeman was killed outside the hall by the insurgents before they entered the building. The three assailants were with other men in two vehicles, he said.
Two civilians, one of them a provincial bank manager, were killed in the gunfire, and five other people were wounded and taken to a hospital, said Mangrobang, assistant operations chief of a military camp north of Manila.
