Teen-Ager Sent to Prison for Killing 86-Year-Old Woman
CINCINNATI (AP) _ A teen-ager was sentenced to life in prison plus 50 years for killing an 86-year-old woman to get money for a scheme to see country music star Reba McEntire.
Mincey Meece, 17, had pleaded guilty to murder, robbery and burglary. She was sentenced Tuesday.
Meece told police she and a friend beat Stella Ellison with a clock and smothered her with a pillow July 13 at the victim’s suburban Elmwood Place home to get money to travel to Nashville, Tenn.
Meece said they had planned to take hostages in Nashville until Miss McEntire was brought to them. The trip never took place, apparently because the crime netted only $27.
Meece will have to serve at least 37 years before becoming eligible for parole.
Therisa Frasure, 22, Meece’s alleged accomplice, awaits trial. The victim was Frasure’s landlady, who was trying to evict the young woman.
