Ex-Husband Of Charles’ Mistress Camilla Parker Bowles To Remarry

February 6, 1996 GMT

LONDON (AP) _ Andrew Parker Bowles, former husband of Prince Charles’ mistress Camilla Parker Bowles, is remarrying, according to news reports today.

Parker Bowles, 55, was quoted by the Daily Mirror as telling the London newspaper that he and wealthy divorcee Rosemary Pitman, 54, plan to wed but not immediately.

Parker Bowles, who retired in December 1994 as head of the Army’s Veterinary Services with the rank of brigadier, and Mrs. Pitman have lived together since July and became engaged in recent days, the paper said.

It said Parker Bowles, a Roman Catholic, relied heavily on Mrs. Pitman’s support after Charles said in a television interview in June 1994 that he had had an extramarital affair after his relationship with Princess Diana broke down irretrievably.

Jonathan Dimbleby’s biography ``The Prince of Wales,″ published earlier in 1994 with Charles’ authorization, said his relationship with Mrs. Parker Bowles began when they were both single.

Charles, 47, and Diana, 34, separated in 1992 after 11 years of marriage and the birth of two sons.

Parker Bowles and his 48-year-old wife divorced last year after 20 years of marriage. They have a son and a daughter.

The Daily Mirror quoted an unidentified friend of Parker Bowles and Mrs. Pitman as saying: ``She’s pretty, chic, well-read and rich. She’s also lots of fun.″

It said Mrs. Pitman, the mother of three children, and her wealthy businessman husband Hugh Pitman divorced in 1991 after 30 years of marriage. Pitman, a former Army officer, has remarried.

Another paper, the Daily Telegraph, had a similar report. It said Parker Bowles and Mrs. Pitman, as part of the same social circle, had been friends for years and that she and Camilla Parker Bowles had also been friends.
