Tennessee Titans Preview Capsule

September 3, 2016 GMT

New faces: RB DeMarco Murray, RB Derrick Henry, QB Matt Cassel, C Ben Jones, RT Jack Conklin, WR Rishard Matthews, WR Andre Johnson, WR Tajae Sharpe, CB Brice McCain, CB Antwon Blake, S Rashad Johnson, LB Kevin Dodd, GM Jon Robinson, coach Mike Mularkey, offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie, OL coach Russ Grimm, defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, special teams coordinator Bobby April.

Key losses: TE Craig Stevens, DL Ropati Pitoitua, S Michael Griffin, WR Dorial Green-Beckham, CB Coty Sensabaugh, LB Zach Brown, defensive coordinator Ray Horton.

Strengths: Team that has gone 32 games without running back reaching 100 yards in game could end string in opener with Murray, 2014 NFL Offensive Player of Year, and Heisman Trophy winner Henry now in offense focused on ground. QB Marcus Mariota now has more than just TE Delanie Walker as target. LeBeau is calling defense after taking back seat to Horton in 2015.

Weaknesses: Titans must show they’ve shored up secondary enough to keep opponents from picking them apart with big plays. They also have to prove offensive line finally has been fixed enough to protect Mariota and keep QB healthy.

Fantasy Players To Watch: Mariota, Murray, Henry, Walker, Sharpe.

Expectations: Mularkey won over Titans during interim stint as head coach last season, and they have bought into his physical approach. Team that wound up with No. 1 draft pick overall before trading it away has upgraded at several positions. Now Titans have sights on bouncing back with first winning season since 2011 and first AFC South title since 2008.
