Pat Richter Elected to Packers Board

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) _ Green Bay Packers stockholders elected Wisconsin athletic director Pat Richter to the team’s board of directors Wednesday.

Also elected during the annual stockholders meeting was John M. MacDonough, chairman and chief executive officer of Miller Brewing Co. of Milwaukee.

Richter replaces George Conway, who has taken emeritus status, and MacDonough replaces John Bowlin, who resigned.

The board will operate one person short this year because of the death May 12 of Eugene Sladky. The nominating committee by then had already concluded its process for Wednesday’s meeting.

Among the 14 members re-elected to the board was Bud Selig, owner of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Richter, 54, has been credited with recent success of various sports programs as head of the Wisconsin athletic department.

Since he became athletic director Feb. 1, 1990, all 20 sports teams have competed in NCAA postseason play. The football team won the 1994 Rose Bowl and the basketball team has been to the NCAA tournament and three NITs.

Re-elected to the Packers board for three-year terms were: Terry J. Bogart, Robert C. Gallagher, Donald F. Harden, Robert E. Harlan, John C. Koeppler, Thomas M. Olejniczak, Herman J. Reckelberg, James A. Temp, Leo J. Scherer, Fred N. Trowbridge Jr. and William J. Tyrell, all of Green Bay, and Robert C. Buchanan of Appleton, Ronald Sadoff of Fond du Lac and Selig, of Milwaukee.
