Randy Moss Dismissed From Florida State Football Team
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) _ Receiver Randy Moss has been kicked off Florida State’s football team after admitting he smoked marijuana.
Coach Bobby Bowden said Moss will not be allowed to return to the team ``regardless of the action by the West Virginia courts.″
Last week, Moss admitted smoking marijuana while serving a 30-day work-release sentence for beating up a fellow DuPont High School student in 1995. His work-release status was revoked, and he could face a year in jail if found guilty of violating his probation.
Moss, the 1994 West Virginia high school football player of the year, was a redshirt freshman receiver with the Seminoles, and has been widely considered one of the team’s future stars.
A probation hearing for Moss today was postponed. Kanawha County Circuit Judge Charles King delayed the hearing until Friday at the request of defense lawyer Tim DiPiero.
Neither DiPiero nor assistant prosecutor Don Morris immediately returned messages seeking comment.
