August 2, 1985 GMT

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Actor Jon-Erik Hexum, who died after shooting himself in the head with a prop gun blank, should have been warned about the dangers of blank cartridges, his mother claims in a wrongful death suit.

Gretha Hexum of Van Nuys filed the suit against 20th Century-Fox Television and Glenn Larson Productions in Superior Court on July 22.

Hexum, 27, was injured Oct. 12, 1984, while pretending to play Russian roulette with a .44 Magnum revolver on the set of the television series ″Cover Up.″ He died a few days later.

Authorities said he pulled the trigger with the muzzle against his temple.

″Our position is that we do not comment on litigation,″ said Al Newman, a spokesman for 20th Century-Fox.
