Lincoln Museum plans informative events on WWI
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum is hosting two free events next month about World War I.
The first is an April 4 lecture by a historian Mark DePue at the Springfield museum. He’s the head of the museum’s oral history program and has already developed a program on key Civil War battles using photos and soldiers’ stories. He’ll be using the same approach for the World War I presentation.
Later on April 11 the museum will offer a free screening of “Paths of Glory” which is directed by Stanley Kubrick and stars Kirk Douglas. Admission is free.
The museum and library hold books, documents and artifacts related to the 16th president, along with 12 million items related to Illinois history.
