Man Killed When Piano Falls On Head
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) _ A man helping move a piano was killed when he fell from the back of a pickup truck and the piano fell out and landed on his head, police said.
Tommy Gaddis, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday, police Capt. Wyatt Gantt said.
He said Gaddis was sitting in the back of the truck holding the piano when the truck backed over a curb, the piano shifted, and Gaddis and the piano fell.
Gaddis and three friends were helping move the upright piano from a church to the home of Sarah Davis, who had bought it for $75 so her grandchildren could take piano lessons. Hours after the accident, the black piano stood at the curb of Mrs. Davis’ house.
″I called Goodwill,″ Mrs. Davis said. ″They’re going to come get it in the morning. I can’t have that thing in my house.″
