Pinnacle Brands to Acquire Donruss Trading Cards

DALLAS (AP) _ Pinnacle Brands Inc. has agreed to buy Donruss Trading Cards Inc.’s rights to produce and distribute baseball and hockey trading cards, Pinnacle announced Thursday.

Under the agreement, which is subject to regulatory and licensor approval, Pinnacle will assume licenses with Major League Baseball Properties, the Major League Baseball Players’ Association, National Hockey League Enterprises and the NHL Players’ Association. Pinnacle also will acquire certain trademarks related to those sports trading card products.

Donruss will continue its sports trading card business until the transaction is finalized, which is likely to be next month.

Pinnacle Brands Inc. produces sports trading cards that are sold worldwide. The company distributes baseball, football, hockey and motor sports cards.
