Woman accused of leaving 17 dogs without food, water
HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — A woman has been accused of leaving 17 dogs in her care without food or water in an unclean environment, police in New Hampshire said.
A total of 20 dogs and a bird were taken into custody by Hampton police on May 13. They were examined and treated by the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. On Friday, police charged Susan Bahatouris, 63, of Hampton, with 17 counts of animal cruelty.
Bahatouris was released and is scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 18.
It wasn’t immediately known if she had an attorney. Numbers listed for her were disconnected.
