Former television news reporter Dave Boliek dies
Funeral services are scheduled for Dave Boliek, a television news reporter whose career spanned two North Carolina stations.
His daughter, Mary Alice Boliek, said her father died Monday at a hospital on Little Rock, Arkansas. He was 75. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday in Perryville, Arkansas.
The Hickory native worked at WFMY in Greensboro before he went to WTVD in Durham, where he covered state government and the legislature.
Boliek left WTVD in 1997 to work full-time with a nonprofit he helped launch. The Centers for Quality Teaching and Learning, also known as ExplorNet, aimed to put computers in North Carolina schools at a time when they weren’t commonplace. He retired in 2017.
Along with his daughter, Boliek is survived by his wife, Melissa, three sons and seven grandchildren.
