CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) — A jail inmate who escaped from a hospital has been arrested at a mobile home park in suburban St. Louis.

St. Louis County police say 36-year-old Bruce Brutsman was taken into custody around noon Wednesday near Festus. He is accused of bolting Saturday morning from a hospital where he was being treated after he allegedly swallowed a battery. Police say he was wearing hospital scrubs when he got away from the corrections officer assigned to monitor him.

A pizza delivery car was stolen about 1 ½ hours later from outside an Imo’s pizzeria. The vehicle was unoccupied when it was found near Interstate 70 and the foot of a bridge to Illinois.

Brutsman had been jailed in St. Louis County on charges of burglary and other property crimes.
