WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — Police have made an arrest in the stabbing death of a Connecticut woman whose body was found in her home by her husband.

Waterbury police say Solita Billups’ husband came home Tuesday morning after working an overnight shift and found his wife dead.

They arrested 49-year-old Christopher Iverson and charged him with murder, arson and other offenses.

Police say Billups and Iverson may have had a relationship and were arguing. They say Iverson also tried to set the home on fire. The victim’s 11-year-old son was home at the time.

Mayor Neil O’Leary says Billups worked for the city’s Board of Education and called her a “valued city employee.”

The death was the city’s fourth homicide of the year.

It could not immediately be determined if Iverson has a lawyer.
