Oklahoma GOP convention delegates praise Trump VP choice
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma delegates to the Republican National Convention are praising the selection of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s running mate.
Holly Gerard of Durant said Friday that Pence’s experience in government and conservative background will appeal to a broad base of the party.
Hope Sutterfield of Duncan says Pence, an attorney and former member of Congress, has experience in politics and government that Trump lacks. Sutterfield says Pence is also a social conservative who gives the GOP ticket more credibility among GOP conservatives.
C.J. Cavin of Edmond says Pence is also known as a fiscal conservative and has supported tax reform. Cavin says conservatives who have not been thrilled with Trump’s lack of conservative credentials may have a more positive view of the GOP ticket.
