Handwriting expert points to superintendent as letter writer
COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (AP) — A handwriting expert says an unsigned, handwritten letter given to South Lane School District Board members praising District Superintendent Krista Parent and criticizing a school district teacher was probably written by Parent.
The Register-Guard reports that a former forensic document examiner with the Eugene Police Department, James Green, says it’s “probable” Parent wrote the letter.
The letter appeared in August after the public disclosure in May that Parent was having a romantic affair with a subordinate employee in the district, which Parent confirmed.
The district investigated after receiving a formal complaint and found Parent didn’t violate any district or board policies by engaging in the affair.
A South Lane School District resident paid Green $700 to examine the letter, then gave the results to the newspaper.
Parent didn’t respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment.
