One arrested, two at large in Akron carjacking, police say

AKRON, Ohio -- One man was arrested and two others are at large after carjacking a 24-year-old man in Akron’s North Hill neighborhood, police say.

Marcus Kidd, 18, faces charges of aggravated robbery, receiving stolen property and other charges in the incident that happened about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night on Cranz Place near Dayton Street, Akron police Capt. Rick Edwards said.

Police are trying to identify the two men who got away.

The man told police he was sitting in a driveway in his 2014 Dodge Charger when three men approached.

One of the men pulled him out of his car and punched him in the face, police said. Another man fired several shots before they took his car and drove west towards Dayton Street, police said.

An officer spotted the car several minutes later at East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue and Dayton Street.

The men led police on a chase before they bailed from the car at Fouse Avenue and Ranney Street, police said.

Police took Kidd into custody after they found him hiding behind a garage on Floyd Street near Dan Street, according to the police report.

The incident is under investigation.
