Alabama man arrested in decade-old gunshot killing
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — A man has been charged with murder in a killing that went unsolved for more than a decade, police said Wednesday.
Labaron Tyrell Lockhart, 26, was charged in the death of William Willett, 62, Mobile police said in a statement.
Willett was found suffering from a gunshot wound along a street near downtown on May 2, 2011, police said, and died later at a hospital. Investigators believed he was shot during a robbery, and the gunman drove off in Willet’s car.
Authorities didn’t say what led them to arrest Lockhart, who was 16 at the time of the shooting. He has been arrested several times in recent years on drug-related offenses, court records show.
Lockhart was held in Mobile County Metro Jail, and court records weren’t immediately available to show whether he had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
