4th annual Dog Jog set for June 16

HURRICANE — Hurry, only hours remain to get a discounted rate for the 4th annual Dog Jog, so make like a pup snagging a bone and hop online to register immediately.

The Dog Jog, sponsored by The Putnam County Animal Shelter and the Putnam County Convention and Visitors Bureau, is set for 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, at Valley Park in Hurricane.

The event will begin in the parking lot by the Large Shelter at the back of Valley Park in Hurricane.

The course is moderately flat and follows the track out of the park, through quiet neighborhood streets, back to the park and finishes back at the Large Shelter.


Tickets are $20 if purchased on or before today, June 1, or $25 after June 1, and can be purchased at tristateracer.com or the day of the race one hour before the event. All proceeds will benefit the Putnam County Animal Shelter’s Spay and Neuter Fund.

The public is invited to bring their canine companions to walk or run with them during the event. Putnam County Animal Shelter will also be bringing dogs to the event for anyone interested in adopting or wanting to walk the dogs on the walk/run course.

There will be prizes awarded to the top male and female overall and the top three male and female in each age group.
