Widomski ballot push by Save Our Shelton Aug. 2
SHELTON-A push to get Mark Widomski a spot on the Republican ballot for Planning and Zoning commissioner will be a major part of Save Our Shelton’s Aug. 2 meeting.
The grassroots group which organized to preserve neighborhoods and challenge Planned Development and Designated Residential districts will meet beginning Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the Plumb Memorial Library’s Huntington branch on Church Road.
“We will have petitions that registered Shelton Republicans could sign to get Mark on the ballot,” said Greg Tetro, who helped organized Save Our Shelton during their ongoing battle to stop the massive Towne Center at Shelter Ridge project. “We need 359 verified signatures.”
Attempts to nominate Widomski during the July 24 Republican Town Committee meeting were stymied by rule requirements.
Save Our Shelton has been a vocal opponent of Ruth Parkins, the Planning and Zoning chairwoman, on several recent development projects that were approved. Parkins was again endorsed by the Republicans and is seeking re-election.
The group will also discuss new designations in the city’s Plan of Conservation and Development.
“The designated residential district is just another name for cluster housing,” he said.
