Lady Patriots blank Eagles 4-0
Henry County High School’s mastery of Clarksville Northeast’s athletic teams continued Tuesday night as the Lady Patriot soccer team scored a 4-0 victory at HCHS.
The Lady Patriots’ win comes on the heels of the Patriot football team’s 45-7 triumph over Northeast on Friday. The Lady Patriots are now 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in District 10-AAA play.
Despite the victory, Lady Patriot head coach Thomas Klingenberg believes his squad can do more.
“We aren’t playing with a lot of passion. It seems like we are just going through the motions with two or three girls doing what we ask and others are not,” said Klingenberg.
He said the Lady Patriots needed to wake up before taking part in the Rivals tournament this weekend in Memphis. Beginning on Friday, the Lady Patriots are set to play Baylor, St. George’s and Hutchinson. Klingenberg hopes the strong competition sparks the Lady Patriots.
Henry County got the lead in the first half over Northeast when Ella Bomar assisted on a goal by Ansley Cate.
In the second half, the Lady Patriots got a goal from Gracie Pack before Sophie Carter beat the Northeast goalie twice to finish off the scoring in the 4-0 victory.
