Council to consider zoning, annexations

November 14, 2018 GMT

The Fremont City Council will consider a zoning change request within the Costco-Lincoln Premium Poultry complex as well as two voluntary annexation requests for the SunRidge Place housing development during its meeting on Tuesday.

The council will consider holding the second-of-three readings regarding a proposed zoning change from R Rural to GI General Industrial of a property located at 1762 Hills Farm Road within the Costco-Lincoln Premium Poultry complex.

According to City Planning Director Jennifer Dam, the reason for the request is a planned renovation of a house on the property to be converted into offices as well as the construction of a new demonstration building on the property.

The proposed ordinance was introduced and held on first reading at the council’s last meeting on Oct. 30.

If the proposed ordinance is again advanced by a council vote on Tuesday, a third reading and final approval would still be required to ultimately pass the ordinance.

The council will also consider requests for voluntary annexations for the SunRidge Place First and Second Additions during the meeting. Both requests are up for final approval during the meeting on Tuesday.

If passed, the proposed ordinance would annex a total of 49.15 acres of land within the SunRidge Place housing development located between Military Avenue, Jack Sutton Drive, Luther Road and Johnson Drive in east Fremont into the city limits.

Both ordinances were introduced and held on first and second reading by the council during its meeting on Oct. 30.

In other council news, the council will consider:

An ordinance proposing zoning change from SC Suburban Commercial to GC General Commercial at 340 W. 22nd Street to allow an existing two-story concrete structure and surrounding buildings to be used as a storage facility. An ordinance requesting voluntary annexation of the proposed Morningside Crossing mixed-use development at the corner of Morningside Road and Johnson Road.Resolution to lease the Christensen Field Ball Field #2 to Midland University for a period of 10 years. An ordinance proposing an amendment to the Municipal Code to adopt permanent pet license tags.
