Bethel transfer station’s closure postponed
BETHEL — The town rescheduled this weekend’s closure of the transfer station.
The transfer station will be closed on Jan. 27, instead of this Saturday, so that Eversource can finish the electrical connections to the solar farm.
Eversource is no longer able to complete the work this Saturday because of the possible rain and freezing rain, the town said in a release.
Crews need to shut off power to the transfer station to work on the 2,900-panel solar farm. The 948-kilowatt array is expected to generate nearly 1 million kilowatts of energy a year for the town.
The station is scheduled to open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, but could close regardless because of icy conditions. The town has asked residents to call the station at 203 778 7436 to see if it is open Saturday.
