Attempted home invasion turns deadly in South Side Slopes
A man was killed during an attempted home invasion Friday in Pittsburgh’s South Side Slopes, according to police.
Authorities identified the man as Daniel Ling, 18, of Baldwin.
Police responded to a home on Monastery Avenue about 9 a.m. for a report of a robbery, Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri said.
He said a resident in the home reported he’d been robbed. Police subsequently found a man’s body on the property, Togneri said. He’d been shot.
Investigators believe Ling, who was armed, attempted to rob the resident of the home, and a struggle ensued. Togneri said the resident got ahold of the gun and shot Ling on the home’s rear patio.
The resident was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for a head laceration.
