North Augusta City Council to vote on Riverview Park splash pad
North Augusta City Council members will be joined by some young counterparts during their meeting Monday evening.
The meeting is during youth appreciation day. City Administrator Todd Glover said students from North Augusta will be taken around and shown the operations of the city on Monday and, on Monday evening, will be part of the Council meeting.
During the meeting, Council will only be voting on one item. Council will be voting on a resolution to select Great Southern Recreation, a company in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to build a splash pad in Riverview Park, according to the agenda.
Great Southern Recreation, a company that’s been in business for more than 25 years, specializes in splash pads and commercial playgrounds and serves five states.
Glover said the city would like to have the splash pad open as school lets out for summer this year and that it would be located near the current playground at the park.
In November 2018, Council re-prioritized a list of projects to be paid for with the Capital Projects Sales Tax II funds, which then had around $1.4 million in it.
The re-prioritization allocated $250,000 for a spray pad in Riverview Park.
City Council will meet for a study session before the meeting at 6 p.m. on the third floor of the municipal building at 100 Georgia Avenue and at 7 p.m. for the meeting.
