Golf course owner expresses road concerns

March 21, 2018 GMT

LAVALETTE — The owner of a local golf course attended a recent Wayne County Commission meeting to express concerns about access road conditions.

Donny Nelson, owner of Creekside, LLC, reported to commissioners that the access road to Creekside Golf Course — formerly named Silo — is in disrepair.

According to Nelson, the access road from U.S. 152 to the entrance of the golf course is overgrown and that properties adjacent to the road have encroached upon an existing Department of Highways right of way making it difficult for cars to pass one another when traveling to the location.

Nelson is currently renovating the golf course location.

After hearing Nelson’s concerns, the commission decided to send a letter to W.Va. Gov. Jim Justice’s office, The Department of Transportation cabinet secretary and the Department of Highways district two engineer requesting that the DOT and DOH investigate and address the reported concerns.
