Sun Brewfest: Another round for fall beer tasting
Mohegan Sun Brewfest typically packs ’em in every year, as friends and loved ones gather at the Uncasville casino ballroom to sample any of 150 craft brews, ciders and other libations (Itz Spritz, Hoop Tea, Sons of Liberty spirits). It’s an upbeat afternoon where you can pair a couple of ounces of different brews with a small sandwich or other local food bite as a band plays and some dudes play cornhole.
Food (including Pepe’s Apizza, Whey Station and NoRA Cupcake) is available for a few dollars in addition to the $30 admission to the grand tasting. There was going to be a new option this time, a pizza/beer session called Sip & Slice that evening, but it was canceled by Mohegan Sun the other day.
One new facet of the beer festival (of which there are many these days, including Smoke in the Valley in Seymour Oct. 6) is the venue itself — its location in the Earth Ballroom at Mohegan near the new Expo & Convention Center.
Although kids and teens are not allowed into this event, a portion of all ticket sales will go to the Channel 3 Kids Camp. The cornhole games, by the way, include a cornhole tournament with entry fee of $100 per team.
