Volunteers are needed for ‘Moving Wall’ display
Volunteers are needed to assist with the presentation of “The Moving Wall” display at Watertown Municipal Airport this weekend.
Volunteers are needed for the following duties:
Security -- keeping an eye on The Wall and making sure people are not damaging or defacing it in any way.
Staffing --The computers and a book will be available for members of the public to look up the names of people on The Wall.
Assisting -- Providing assistance to veterans viewing The Wall, for example pushing them closer if they are in a wheelchair, etc.
Persons who are interested in volunteering can contact Mike English at 920-253-5214 or they can also approach a staff member at the site to see how they can help.
The replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be on display from Thursday at noon until Monday, June 25, at 4 p.m. It is a 24-hour display in that time period.
An opening ceremony for The Moving Wall will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the airport display. A family ceremony is also planned for Friday at 7 p.m., at which time relatives of those whose names are on the wall can bring wreaths in remembrance of their fallen heroes. The wreaths will be placed by the Wall.
