Man accused of flashing weapon at Chuck E. Cheese
A New Haven man was arrested for allegedly brandishing a handgun at Chuck E. Cheese in Orange last month.
According to the Orange Police Department Facebook page, officers responded to the restaurant at 82 Boston Post Road shortly after 10 p.m. on Sept. 24 for a reported disturbance. They learned that restaurant employees were cleaning up tables in the dining area when they discovered a number of empty liquor bottles left on one of them.
The employees tried to stop the person who had been seated at that table — Stephen Soares, 38, of New Haven — from driving away as they were concerned he may have been under the influence of alcohol.
When approached by the restaurant employees, Soares reportedly lifted his shirt to reveal a holstered handgun, and asked the employees “Who is going to do something?”
Officers seized the handgun, and Soares was taken into custody and charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, Oct. 11.
