A Beatrice woman was arrested on child abuse charges after officers found meth and marijuana at an apartment on Saturday, court documents show.

Kaylynn Dobbins, 25, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and child abuse.

Police officers went to Dobbins’ apartment in the 1800 block of Scott St. on a welfare check for a 2-year-old girl who lived there. Reports stated that Dobbins had been smoking meth and marijuana outside the residence.

Officers then received Dobbins’ consent to search the house to make sure it was a safe environment for the girl, court documents stated.

During the search, officers found multiple meth pipes, scales, small bags, marijuana and .7 grams of meth.

One of the meth pipes and the bag of meth were on a nightstand, easily accessible to the 2-year-old girl, officers determined.

Dobbins was arrested and lodged at the Gage County Jail. Her bond was set at $5,000. She is expected back in court on Oct. 2.
