Wichita stabbing victim identified, cousin arrested
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — The cousin of a man who was found stabbed to death in Wichita has been arrested as a suspect in the death, police said.
Jason Payne, 39, of Wichita, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of Michael Montgomery, 34, Wednesday at a home in east Wichita, police spokesman Officer Charley Davidson said.
Officers found Payne lying on the ground in a street early Wednesday. He was treated and released at a hospital.
Investigators later went to the house and found Montgomery dead.
Police determined a disturbance occurred between Montgomery and Payne at their home and Payne stabbed Montgomery several times, Davidson said.
Police have not said why Payne was in the street and needed medical attention.
