La Posada names new executive director
SAN BENITO — The new Executive Director at La Posada Providencia is quite familiar with the mission of the shelter: to welcome the stranger. After serving as Interim Executive Director since December 2018, Magda Bolland was permanently appointed to the position on April 6 by the shelter’s Board of Directors.
In her new role, Bolland will be responsible for overseeing La Posada’s administrative, programmatic and strategic initiatives.
“Magda brings to the position a strong knowledge and skill set on immigration
issues and organizational structure,” Board of Directors President Richard Kirk stated in a press release. “Her business background and knowledge of grants will help us move toward more sustainable efforts as we expand our resources to meet the growing immigration challenges.”
La Posada, which is celebrating its 30th year of operations, is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Divine Providence. The shelter has offered emergency shelter services to immigrants and asylum seekers in the Rio Grande Valley and will continue to provide services to its target population. Bolland previously served as La Posada’s Grants Compliance and Business Manager since 2017. She holds a bachelor’s degree
in economics and a master’s degree in business administration.
“When the board elected me to become La Posada Providencia’s Interim Executive Director in December 2018, I received the news with a full heart; I felt happy and grateful for the great opportunity,” Bolland stated in the release.
“It has been a challenging first four months. However, I have an experienced team, and together, we are combining our skills and strengthening La Posada’s structure. I am excited and thankful for the trust bestowed in me, and I will continue executing my vision for La Posada’s future with passion and determination.”
