Idaho Catholic Academy rallies past Rimrock Rattlesnakes in boys high school rugby
HELENA — In a tight match, Idaho Catholic Academy came back to down the Rimrock Rattlesnakes 17-10 in boys high school rugby here Saturday.
Laurel’s Chris Lorenzen scored on a run up the middle, dragging a couple of defenders in for the try to give Billings a 5-0 lead. Five minutes later, the Idaho squad came back to tie it and then scored a conversion kick to lead 7-5 at intermission.
Idaho tacked on two more tries to go up 17-5.
For the Yellowstone Youth Rugby Club Rattlers, Kristopher Keckes of Billings Senior scored their second try. Easton Riley of Billings West lead the offensive charge for the Rattlers from the forward position.
Rattlesnakes forward Conner Reily of Senior High was voted by the other team as “Man of the Match”.
The contest was played on a 109-yard by 65-yard field and was 80-minutes in length.
“It was a hard-fought battle,” commented YYRC general manager John Dahl.
The Rattlers go to Great Falls Saturday to play Frenchtown at 1 p.m.
