Former Husker AD Eichorst is now employed at the University of Texas
Shawn Eichorst, the former Nebraska athletic director who was fired in September, has a new job at the University of Texas according to the Omaha World Herald.
Eichorst will be the Longhorns’ executive senior associate athletics director for internal affairs. The hire was made by Chris Del Conte, who left TCU to become the athletic director at Texas in December. Eichorst, who was hired by the Huskers in October 2012, had about $1.7 million remaining on his Nebraska contract, which ran through June 2019. Nebraska Chancellor Ronnie Green said at the time he fired Eichorst based on a lack of on-field performance. Eichorst’s most high-profile move as athletic director came in football, though, when he hired Mike Riley as head coach to replace Bo Pelini.
