Edward Joy Sr., at 73, resident of Marshfield

Edward W. Joy Sr. of Marshfield, formerly of Hanover and originally from Dorchester, died March 30 at home. He was 73.

Mr. Joy was a successful businessman, having owned and operated Joy Electrical Co. in Quincy for 36 years. He had many family and friends working alongside him, who became known as the “Joy Boys” at Boston construction sites.

He was a proud member of the IBEW Local 103.

He enjoyed wintering in Florida and spending summers on Humarock Beach with his family.

Mr. Joy is survived by his wife, Carol A. (Budak); a son, Edward W. Jr. of Hanover; a daughter, Jennifer C. of Quincy; two brothers, James M. of Quincy and Gerald T. of Halifax; a sister, Linda M. Dinneen of Quincy; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at St. Mary’s of the Sacred Heart Church, Hanover.

Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover.
