State, local police investigate possible peeping Tom at Sacred Heart University
State and local police are investigating allegations of “possible inappropriate videotaping of minors” at Sacred Heart University, a statement from the university said Wednesday.
The minors were attending camp on Sacred Heart University run by U.S. Sports Camps, the university’s statement said.
“Steps have already been taken to remove the individual who was allegedly involved, pending further investigation,” the university’s statement said.
It was unclear whether the person suspected of taking illicit video was on university property for the camp or for other reasons. Bridgeport city spokesman Av Harris said the Bridgeport Police Department’s Youth Bureau was contacted Tuesday evening about a possible peeping Tom.
Harris said Bridgeport police are investigating because the incident occurred on the city’s side of the Sacred Heart University campus. Most of the university is in Fairfield.
“All we can say at this time is, yes, (Bridgeport police) were contacted and yes, they are investigating,” Harris said.
The ages of the minors involved were not immediately available.
Sacred Heart University has hosted camps similar to this one for more than 20 years, the university’s statement said.
“The safety of our community members — including summer guests — is always our top priority, and we take allegations of this kind extremely seriously,” the statement said.
